Troubleshooting Illustrator Issues with Mac M1 and macOS Monterey v12.3

If you're experiencing issues with Adobe Illustrator on your Mac running macOS Monterey v12.3, specifically the Apple M1 chip, this article may help you resolve the problem.

Before we begin, please confirm the exact version of Illustrator you are using and that you are indeed running macOS Monterey v12.3. Additionally, please share some details about the issue you're experiencing, as this will greatly aid our investigation process.

One user reported that uninstalling the entire Creative Cloud resolved their issue, while another user found that installing an older version of Illustrator did not help. We've also conducted remote sessions with multiple users and were unable to replicate the problem on other Mac machines running macOS Monterey v12.3.

It's worth noting that the issue seems to have started shortly after the release of macOS Monterey v12.3, affecting both new and older versions of Illustrator.

On June 8th, Adobe released Illustrator 2021 (v25.3), which is now native on both Apple M1 (ARM) and Intel hardware. This means that plugins using Apple's Rosetta 2 technology can run seamlessly on your Mac.

For those who have grandfathered accounts with access to only Intel-native macOS plugins, there may be a slight reduction in performance when running Illustrator under the Rosetta 2 emulation. Alternatively, you can re-subscribe to the Astute Graphics service and continue using your plugins on M1 hardware.

Astute Graphics has also released universal updates for all its plugins and the Astute Manager (v3), which now run natively on both M1 and Intel hardware. Updating your plugins is easy using the Astute Manager, and instructions can be found on our support page.
